A review of graphical user interfaces of OpenSees software framework

Seismic vulnerability assessment is crucial for evaluating the resilience of structures. OpenSees, an open-access and versatile tool, plays a pivotal role in accurately simulating complex behavior structures subjected to seismic loads. However, lacking built-in graphical user interface (GUI) one limitations OpenSees that can hinder usability accessibility. Moreover, users must rely on command-line inputs scripts interaction, potentially limiting its adoption by non-programmers. To address this, several GUIs were designed as pre- post-processor OpenSees. In this study, 15 categorized open access or commercial. The functionalities features GUIs, such open-source nature, three-dimensional (3D) modeling visualization capabilities, automation incremental dynamic analysis (IDA), simplification soil-structure interaction (SSI) modeling, examined. Note certain introduced with focus specific reviewed study. This mini-review aims guide choosing appropriate GUI their projects support developers improving existing functionality creating advanced comprehensively cater users’ needs.
